More and more police forces are encouraging motorists to submit dashcam footage which has captured the dangerous driving of other motorists.

At some point, you have undoubtedly seen some dodgy driving as you make your way to work, to the shops or whilst on the school run.

The police are coming down heavily on motorists who put other peoples lives at risk owing to the dangerous and wreckless manner of their driving.

Most forces have a dedicated section on their website that allows motorists to upload dashcam footage that has captured some lousy driving.

Once uploaded, the footage is assessed by an investigator who will then decide on whether or not to prosecute the driver who has been caught on camera driving dangerously.

And now, as the price of dash cams has come down, we take a look at the top three dashcams – taking into account value for money and products reviews – which you can buy on Amazon.

If you are an Amazon Prime customer, then you can even get next day delivery completely free of charge.

BEST REVIEW: ‘I bought this camera to replace my old dashcam. It looks much better than my previous camera.

‘It came with charging cable, a long in-car charging cable and also a long USB cable to connect the rear camera. The two cameras are displayed on the screen simultaneously.

‘Camera support G-sensor, automatically records video and lock file when the accident occurred luckily I have not had an accident so I have not used this feature but it is there when needed. BEST REVIEW:

‘Bought this as a gift for my wife.

I fitted it to an Audi Q2. The front camera wire has to plug into the 12v socket in the front of the car.

There was a very helpful little tool in the kit which helps to slip the cable under the mouldings on the car.

The wire ran nicely under the roofline, then down the front passenger Piller, then down the side of the glove box and under it, it hooked nicely onto the heater vents and up the centre consul side of the glove box to plugin.

‘No securing needed other than clipped under the mouldings’.

Buy it from Amazon for 33.99 (price correct as of 13th October).

BEST REVIEW:

‘Bought this as peace of mind before a long European Trip. It worked well except for the suction mount (nearly got launched out of the Eurostar). The sticky pad installation was far more suitable, and it’s inconspicuous behind the rearview mirror.

‘Hopefully, I’ll never have cause to use it in anger, but it seems good so far. Check the memory card requirements as it’s quite selective. It also only appears to pair with a single phone at a time which is a little annoying but liveable.

‘Will try and update once I’ve used it a little more’ – will

Buy it from Amazon for 119.95 (price correct as of 13th October).
