A serious incident unfolded this morning (scroll down for some footage from the scene, which has been shared on X) at Hainault Underground station in Redbridge, east London, where four individuals sustained injuries in a stabbing event. Emergency services quickly responded, and one male has been detained in connection with the attack.
Details of the Incident
Early this morning, chaos erupted outside the Hainault Tube station when, according to an eyewitness report to LBC, a “young boy stabbed another guy” before heading towards the station.
The incident prompted a swift response from emergency services, including the Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade.
Transport for London (TfL) announced, “This station is closed due to a police investigation in the area,” reflecting the severity of the situation and ongoing efforts to secure the scene.
Political and Community Response
West Streeting, Labour MP for Ilford North, confirmed the severity of the situation. “A critical incident has been declared in Hainault. There are station and road closures in place. The Police, Ambulance Service and Fire Brigade are responding. One male detained,” he stated.
Eyewitness Accounts and Footage
Disturbing footage circulating on social media shows a male wielding what appears to be a large sword.
Voices in the background can be heard shouting, “shoot him!” at the police officers at the scene.
It is important to note that – at that moment in time – these were response team officers, not Armed Response Vehicle officers.
Additionally, the video captures a London Ambulance Vehicle reversing away from a male who appears to be armed with a sword, highlighting the dangerous and volatile nature of the incident.
Appeal to the Public
The Metropolitan Police are likely to issue more statements as investigations continue.
The public is advised to stay away from the area so that emergency services can effectively manage the crime scene.

That looks like a Samurai sword, a very nasty weapon. Once convicted, this guy needs locking up for at least a decade, preferably two. Interesting that members of the public called for him to be shot. This speaks volumes for the state of our streets. People are sick and tired of the endless cycle of escalating crime, woke senior police officers and a feeble judiciary and punishment regime.
