Too often, we hear about the individuals who, when seeing potentially dangerous suspects fleeing from the police, just get out their phones and starting recording what is happening.

And whilst the male in the video below (scroll down) did pull out his mobile phone and started to record what was happening, instead of recording the police having to battle with the fleeing suspect, he recording himself tripping the suspect over.

The circumstances surrounding the incident that led up to the male running away from the police are not known.

But in the video we can clearly hear officers tell the suspect to ‘stand still’.

The suspect flees the scene on his pedal bike and heads towards the male who is recording the incident.

The male shouts to the police “do you want me to grab him?”.

As the fleeing suspect approaches the male, he manages to unbalance the suspect by putting a bag that he was carrying directly in front of the males escape route.

At which point, the suspect loses control and hits the deck followed swiftly by the officers who were running after the suspect.

The officers appear to armed and wearing their ballastic helmets which indicates that the male they were chasing could have been armed with a knife or perhaps a firearm.

The suspect is then rapidly taken into custody without any further apparent incident.

The male who managed to knock the suspect of off his bike, in our opinion, is certainly worthy of some sort of commendation.

Towards the end of the footage, a lady who walks up to the scene after the officers have detained the male can be heard to say: “that’s police brutality”.

But, as is often the case, the lady making such a claim probably knows nothing about what had happened immediately prior to the male being detained by the officers.

For example, the male could have pointed a firearm at someone or threatened to shoot the police. He could have just stabbed someone or threatened to stab someone. We do not know and more importantly, the lady who saw the police detain the male probably does not know either.

Does the lady claiming ‘police brutality’ REALLY think that the officers are going to risk their own safety or that of the general public?

This is why officers often get so frustrated when a member of the ‘Association of Professional Bystanders’ tries to get involved; often, they know nothing about what has happened and yet they still believe that they know best when it comes to officer and public safety!
