Footage has emerged on social media (scroll down for video) of the moment when a gang of youths on bikes attacked a father and son.
The incident is reported to have happened outside of a block of residential flats on the Queensway Estate, Coleman Street in Southend-on-Sea, on Monday 16th December at around 14:35 hours.
According to the ‘Your Southend’ facebook page, the father and son came under attack after they prevented the armed gang from stealing a pedal bike.
The father allegedly attempted to retrieve the stolen bike, but the gang launched a sustained attack on the pair, using various weapons.
In the footage, the father and son can be seen to try and defend themselves as one of the gang repeatedly threatens them with a weapon.
The father and son raise their bikes in the air in a bid to try and defend themselves as another youth armed with an unknown weapon also try to attack them.
The father and son are forced to retreat out of view of the person who is filming the incident, but several members of the gang can be seen to chase after them before running away after about 20 seconds.
