In the space of less than 24 hours, three police vehicles and one ambulance have been damaged by mindless criminals who clearly have zero respect for the emergency services.

In Merseyside alone, THREE police cars had their windows smashed whilst they were parked outside of Aintree University Hospital.

Chief Inspector Andrea Quinton said in a tweet:

‘3 emergency vehicles damaged. So what happens when your gran has a bogus burglar at the door, your mum is in a car accident or you are attacked by someone wanting your phone?

‘Ridiculous mindless dangerous vandalism’.

@MerPolTraffic

A spokesperson for Mersey Roads Policing Unit (RPU) said:

‘Whilst several of our Traffic Officers were assisting members of the public at various incidents in Aintree Hospital last night a mindless few thought that it would be acceptable to damage three of our police vehicles putting them out of action for the rest of the evening’.

Having three vehicles out of action genuinely endangers people’s lives as the ability of the Roads Policing Unit to be able to respond to emergency calls, once clear of the hospital, is greatly diminished.

If you live in Merseyside and had you of been involved in an accident, as an example, then the RPU’s ability to be able help you would have been severely limited owing to the mindless actions of whoever was responsible for this damage.

Meanwhile, in North London, an emergency ambulance had a brick thrown at its windscreen whilst the ambulance was responding to an emergency call.

In a tweet, LAS North London said:

‘Enfield and Haringey are now short of an ambulance due to the wreckless actions of an individual around the Hertford Road, Ponders End.

‘This individual threw a rock at our windscreen whilst we were responding to an emergency 999 call’.

@LAS_NorthLdn

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said:

‘Reckless and dangerous actions like this means an ambulance must be taken off the road – so cannot respond to patients in need’

Opinion

Anyone with any sense of decency will find it extremely hard to understand just why anyone would want to cause serious injur to an emergency ambulance crew as they raced to potentially save someone’s life.

It is a disgrace that such behaviour occurs at a time when the emergency services are stretched to the limit, trying to save as many lives as they can.

Whoever was responsible for this attack, and the damage caused to the three police cars, is a complete disgrace to the human race.

We can only hope that when the individuals responsible are caught, then the Courts make an example of them so as to act as a deterrent for anyone else tempted to engage in similar behaviour.

If you do happen to know anything about these attacks, then please call the police on the non-emergency 101 number.
