Thames Valley Police has confirmed the final details and arrangements for the funeral of PC Andrew Harper.
The funeral is to be held at Christ Church Cathedral in St Aldates, Oxford, at 11 am on Monday 14th October.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said:
“The force is working closely with Andrew’s family to ensure we plan the funeral to their wishes.
“We anticipate an increase in visitors to the city on the day.
“If you are planning to visit the city on the day, then you will see a large police presence as we work with partners to ensure the funeral is safe and secure.
“Our thoughts remain with Andrew’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time”.
“This is a private funeral, but we welcome people to Oxford to pay their respects along the processional route.
“Members of the public can position themselves behind the barriers that will be in place.
“Following the church service, there will be a private cremation and wake for family only.
“Please remember that members of the public can leave messages of condolence to Andrew’s family by emailing:

“The family has requested no flowers.

“This means that no-one, including members of public and mourners, should bring flowers to Oxford city centre or the cathedral.
“Further, flowers should not be thrown at the cortege at any point on the route.
“Instead of flowers, the family has requested that donations can be made to the following charities:
- Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital, Aston Road, Haddenham, HP17 8AF.
- Blue Cross rehoming centre, London Road, Lewknor, OX49 5RY.
To accommodate the funeral procession, Thames Valley Police has confirmed that several road closures will be in place from 8 am to 12.30 pm, these will include:
- The Plain.
- Magdalen Bridge.
- High Street.
- St Aldates – a closure will be in place from the city centre to the corner of Speedwell Street.
