The Metropolitan Police are releasing an image of a man they would like to trace after an officer was badly injured following a routine vehicle stop in Lewisham.
On Thursday, 18 July at 16:00hrs two officers in an unmarked police car stopped a white Renault van in Fordmill Road, SE6 after spotting damage to the vehicle.
One of the officers got out of the police car and spoke to the driver.
The driver then suddenly reversed his vehicle, knocking over the other officer who at this time was stood by the police car.
The driver of the van continued to reverse his vehicle on top of the officer, as he lay helpless on the ground, before driving off.
An ambulance was called and the officer, aged in his 20s, was taken to a south London hospital, where he remains having suffered injuries to his leg and hand.
His condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
The other officers involved in this incident did not sustain any injuries.
All officers involved in the incident are attached to the Violent Crime Taskforce.
Police would like to speak to Nicholas Scantlebury, 35 (03.10.83), in connection with this incident.
