Two West Midlands Police officers have been praised after they went ‘above and beyond’ the call of duty when they dipped into their own pockets to buy some baby milk for a vulnerable mother.
In a post shared on Twitter, Chief Supt Andy Parsons said:
‘Moved today to hear of two officers who spent their own money buying a mother milk for her baby when they learnt she couldn’t afford any.
‘Such acts of kindness and humanity aren’t trained or taught but happen because staff genuinely care about the people they serve’.
The incident had come to the senior officer’s attention because the mother in question had been referred to receive support from West Midlands Polices’ partner agencies.
As part of the referrals process, the mother should now be given support from various local authorities.
