A spokesperson for the Met Police Task Force confirmed:
“PC Churchley was on his way home when he came across four males who were carrying out a ram-raid to steal an ATM in Tring.
“PC Churchley called police before deploying PD Luca.
“Following his action, they fled leaving behind the ATM & stolen transit van they were going to use to transport it.
“The males carried crowbars and wore balaclavas.
“PC Churchley was aggressively threatened but managed to disrupt the male despite being outnumbered and unarmed.
“Without PC Churchley’s actions, it is likely the males would have succeeded and left behind far less evidence”.
