A violent thug has been charged by West Midlands Police after he repeatedly punched a police dog in the face.

On 16th June, West Midlands Police responded to a 999 call after a male allegedly threatened his mother with a large knife.

As officers arrived on the scene, the male ran from the property and tried to hide in some nearby woodland in Rowley Regis.

West Midlands Police dog ‘Wez’ was deployed along with his handler in order to track down the dangerous male.

After a successful track, PD ‘Wez’ located the suspect and was able to detain him. However, the suspect tried to choke PD ‘Wez’ while repeatedly punching him in the face.

PD ‘Wez’s handler soon caught up with the dog and was able to take the violent thug into custody without further incident.

The male who attacked PD ‘Wez’ was subsequently charged with Causing Unnecessary Suffering to a Service Animal (Finns Law).

Thankfully, neither PD ‘Wez’ or his handler were seriously injured during the incident.
