Avon & Somerset Police have charged a man from Taunton following a domestic incident in the early hours of Sunday 1 November.
Mark Bryant, 27, was charged this morning with assaulting a woman in her 20s, occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was additionally charged with resisting arrest.
Bryant, of High Street, Taunton, was remanded ahead of appearing at North Somerset Magistrates court today (Monday 2 November).
The injured officer, a male in his 20’s, had joined the police in March.
He was treated in hospital for his injuries and is now recovering at home.
