WEST MIDLANDS POLICE | Detectives investigating a serious hit-and-run in Coventry where a police officer was left with critical injuries have arrested a man this evening (Friday 27 September).
PC Christopher Burnham was struck by a Mini in the Holbrooks area of the city on Wednesday (25 September) at around 2.45 pm.
Yesterday evening, officers arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
PC Burnham, who has been with the force for 25 years, remains critically ill in hospital.
He was left with a fractured skull, a bleed on the brain and a shattered knee and is expected to remain in hospital for some time.
He is being supported there by his family.
The Mini was recovered a short time after the collision and is being forensically examined.
