A man has been charged following an incident that unfolded in Newquay on Friday 11th September where a police officer was airlifted to hospital with severe burns.
The officer was taken to Royal Cornwall Hospital and was later transferred to Derriford Hospital, where he remains in a severe condition.
Blagovest Hadjigueorguiev, 30, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and causing grievous bodily harm with intent against one of the police officers.
He was also charged with attempted GBH with intent against a second police officer who managed to escape being seriously injured.
Hadjigueorguiev was remanded into custody pending a further court appearance.
