Firefighters in the Middlesborough area had a lucky escape last night after one of their appliances was damaged by mindless vandals who targetted two fire service vehicles as they responded to a 999 call.
As the appliance that was targetted was travelling relatively slow at the time of being attacked, the object thrown at the windscreen did not shatter it.
No crew were hurt in the incident.
