A serving police officer (Metropolitan Police) has been sentenced after pleading guilty to three offences under the Computer Misuse Act.
Sergeant Okechukwu Efobi, based within Met Detention, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 3 July where he was given a 12-month community order, ordered to complete 150 hours’ unpaid work and pay £540.
On Tuesday, 25 June, he pleaded guilty at the same court to three offences contrary to section 1 of the Computer Misuse Act.
The offences related to accessing police databases without a policing purpose and occurred while the officer was on duty in 2018.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards will now conduct a misconduct review.
