The Met Police has confirmed that an MP has been charged with sexual assault.
Charlie Elphicke, 49 (14/03/1971), Member of Parliament for Dover and Deal, was charged on Monday, 22 July 2019 with three counts of sexual assault.
Charles Brett Anthony Elphicke MP is a British politician and former lawyer.
Elphicke was first elected as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Dover at the 2010 general election.
He has previously served as a Government whip, otherwise known as a Lord Commissioner.
In a statement released by the Met Police, it said that two of the charges relate to one female complainant, and one charge relates to a second woman.
Mr Elphicke is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 6 September 2019.
