Objective Structured Clinical Examination Day! | Guest Blog

So today’s the day, it’s come round too quick
To have a test to see if I pass
A scenario day with bags full of kit
I’m nervous as hell but I’ve go to do this.

We all sit and wait to take it in turn
Discussing the points of what we will run
My SMART approach, ABC’s checked
I doing this now, just remember to breathe

My crew mate works hard as my thoughts run it through
I’m checking it once, maybe twice
Just take it slow and consider the tricks
It will go fine, you’re ready for this.

It’s time to use skills that are new
A technician you’re skilled, paramedic too
Keep going and think, write notes as you go
Calm approach works best, it’s just a show

The end closes near and the drugs are in
Consider what’s next, think and step back
A ROSC is now clear and you’re prepping to move
Remember the flow of what steps to take.

It’s nearly over, be relaxed and be pleased
You’ve done all you can, the patient is good
A handover done, it’s completed and finished
Have pride in yourself, well done you did it.
