McDonald’s Offers Free Food & Drink For NHS & Emergency Services Personnel Before Closing

McDonald’s has tweeted to say that it will be offering free food and drink to emergency services and NHS personnel hours before the chain of fast-food restaurants shut for the foreseeable future.

All UK and NI restaurants will be closing today at 19:00 hours at the latest.

In a tweet published yesterday evening, a spokesperson for the chain said:

“We will be working closely with community groups across the UK and Ireland to distribute food from our restaurants to those most in need.

“Ahead of closing, all frontline health workers and emergency services personnel will get food and drink for free on the sight of an ID.”

McDonald’s decided to close its restaurants after their drive-thrus became “unmanageable” after the famous chain decided to close their dining areas to comply with ‘social distancing’ advice given by the government.

On Friday, McDonald’s had reminded customers that their drive-thrus were to remain open for business. But owing to the vast numbers of people queuing to get food, this decision was overturned.

  • Glad they aren’t just wasting it all.. As someone who works there and has just lost my job (don’t know yet if temporary or not) it’s been my pleasure in serving, chatting with and just helping where I can all of you. Hope you all stay well and safe.
