36 Weeks In Prison For The Male Who Assaulted Three Officers At 12.01 am On New Years Day

A violent thug who saw in the new year by punching a woman before assaulting three police officers in York will spend the next 36 weeks behind bars.

Darren Robert Hamilton, 31, from Stockton-on-Tees, was sent down for 36 weeks for assault, two counts of common assault and three counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

North Yorkshire Police were called at 23:50 hours on 31st December 2019 to a report of a male acting aggressively in a hotel on Station Road, York.

Hamilton had punched a woman and threatened staff before running away after the police were called.

A police patrol in the area located a man matching his description on Rougier Street several minutes later.

At 12.01 am on 1st January 2020, Hamilton was arrested, but during the arrest, he assaulted two officers before running away.

He assaulted another officer after he was caught and handcuffed nearby.
