Man Charged After Spraying Noxious Substance At Two Police Officers

A man has been charged with assault on police after two officers were sprayed with a noxious substance after responding to reports of a disturbance.

Police were called at around 19:30hrs on Thursday 2nd January to reports of an altercation at Sandal Sreet, E15.

Response team officers attended the scene, and Nelson was arrested on suspicion of a Section 4 public order offence.

During the arrest, Nelson sprayed the officers with a noxious substance. Both officers were taken to hospital and were treated for their injuries.

A spokesperson for the Met confirmed that the officer’s injuries were not life-changing or life-threatening.

Terrance Nelson, 29 (21.09.90) of Sandal Street, E15, was charged on Friday 3rd January with two counts of assaulting a police officer and one count of possession of a section 5 firearm.

Nelson was remanded into custody to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 4th January.

Upon appearing before Magistrates, Nelson pleaded guilty to all charges, and he was bailed to appear back to Thames Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 15th January pending pre-sentence reports.

  • Methinks, another totally inadequate sentence coming up.

  • I don’t, surely the police officers will be blamed and suspended pending inquiries, and the CRIMINAL WILL GET a financial award which will fill his drug or drink dependency for a couple of years!
