The Fire Station That Opened Its Doors To Anyone Who Was On Their Own This Christmas

As Christmas 2019 draws to an end, one story stuck out to our editorial team that sums up the kindness and selfless attitude of the emergency services.

Harrogate Fire Station (North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service) decided to open its doors to anyone in their local community who was on their own on Christmas Day.

The duty crew who covered the stations emergency response for Christmas Day decided to put on a slap-up meal (at their own expense) at the station and invited anyone to come along who might be feeling lonely.

They also invited anyone to the station who could not afford to cook their own Christmas dinner this year, to also join them for their Christmas lunch.

A post shared on their Facebook page said:

“Table set.. music playing, food cooking, presents wrapped, tree decorated, flowers arranged…

“I think we are ready.
