Community Unite To Raise Funds For Police Christmas Party
A kind community in Thames Valley have come together to try and raise enough money to throw a Christmas party for local response team and neighbourhood police officers.
In a post shared on the Earley Residents Discussion Board (Facebook), James Hawksworth said:
‘After the terrible year Thames Valley Police have had with the passing of PC Andrew Harper, Katie Baxter had the great idea of raising some cash for Loddon Police Officers so they can enjoy a Christmas party on us.
‘I know there are a lot of worthy causes which the local community already supports, but if you like the idea of these guys feeling our support at this time of year, then please consider donating. Cheers!’
The event organisers have set a target of £1,000 with £490 already being raised by the caring community.
On the JustGiving page, Katie Baxter said:
‘I wanted to start a fund page to help pay for our local ( Loddon ) police officers to enjoy a Christmas meal without having to fork out of the little money they get for what they do!
‘I think it would be so nice as a community to thank them and I’m sure it would be really appreciated.
‘No pressure, I just think it’ll be a really nice idea to support police officers that do so much for our local community.
‘I know that a lot of public sector workers have to pay for themselves, but I can’t raise money for everyone, and police officers in the local Loddon community are the ones I thought we could help this year…. maybe another group next year!’
Donors have been quick to praise the work of officers and have applauded the sentiment behind the campaign.
