Detective Chief Superintendent Richard Cooper said:
“It is totally unacceptable that our officers should be assaulted while trying to keep people safe.
“We will not tolerate this behaviour, and I’m sure our local communities would join me in condemning it.
“The welfare of our officers is of supreme importance, and we are making sure that they are receiving appropriate medical attention as well as support from the Force.
“Most of them will be able to return to duty for their next shift but not all and this, naturally, impacts on their teams and our ability to provide a service to the public.
“I am very grateful to those officers who will work extra hours to fill the gaps and ensure that we can carry on keeping our communities safe.
“I would also like to thank those officers who have been assaulted for their exemplary commitment to the job, and I wish them a full and speedy recovery.”
Police have confirmed that Investigations continue into the above incidents and anyone with information is asked to contact Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101 quoting the appropriate incident number.
